Georgia is implementing the OPEN NET program to expand high-speed Internet throughout the country. We are talking about providing accessible Internet to about 1,000 settlements, including high-mountain villages and villages. The program was adopted in 2020 and is designed for five years.
The project’s mission is to introduce the Internet in all regions and equal access of the population to digital services. The project includes a technical part – the creation of a unified fiber-optic backbone network, and actions aimed at promoting digital services and increasing public awareness in this direction.
OPEN NET
- ~5000 km – length of the fiber-optic network
- ~150 million dollars – planned project budget
- ~500 thousand village residents will have access to broadband Internet
- ~222 km of fiber-optic network put into operation till October 2022

Completed work
Within the OPEN NET program, SIS Business Service specialists have completed (partially – in the process of implementation) projects for laying fiber-optic cable (blowing into the PTA pipe and hanging on supports) at the following sites:
- 50 km — fiber-optic communication line, laying in the PPT pipe, Kobuleti
- 90 km — fiber-optic communication line, laying in PPT pipe, Racha
- 55 km — fiber optic communication line, suspension on supports, Racha
- 42 km — fiber optic communication line, laying in PPT pipe, Kobuleti
- 95 km — fiber optic communication line, suspension on supports, Kobuleti
